Guatemala is a jewel and enjoys the reputation of being the “Sailfish Capital of the World.”

At the beginning of the 90’s when boats discovered a huge concentration of Pacific sails, sport fishing has flourished off Guatemala’s Pacific coast. Anglers from all over the world have come here to catch thousands and thousands of big, eager Pacific sails and other species. Runs here are usually within 25 miles, but sometimes boats travel 40 miles or more to find the main concentrations. On the plus side of those longer runs Marlin adds to the rush and generally appear in concentrations for a week or more several times a year. At any time, a run to the far offshore drop can normally put you on yellowfin tuna as well as the average 400 pound blue marlin.

Although the main attraction for anglers in Guatemala is the huge numbers of aggressive Pacific Sailfish that are present all year round -there are also good opportunities of gamefish in the blue calm waters off the coast. Our productive inshore fishing offers shots at much sought roosterfish, jack crevalle, snappers and more.

Whether you are an experienced angler looking for the intensity of a glorious catch on fly rod or a discerning angler looking for the best value for your money, Guatemala’s nonstop action is the perfect fishing destinity.

With annual average temperatures of 77° to 86° F year long the Pacific coast of Guatemala is covered by vast, sprawling beaches of glistening black volcanic sand, exotic mangrove reserves and a welcoming and friendly fishing community.
