Tikal, the largest excavated Maya site of Latin America is located in the tropical northern Peten region of Guatemala. This wonderful archaeological gem is contained within the jungles of Tikal National Park , a Unesco World Heritage site. Ancient Pyramids pierce the jungle’s green canopy among the swinging howler monkeys and the brightly colored squawks. The combination of these exquisite centuries-old ruins, the lush stretches of jungle and the presence of abundant wildlife makes Tikal the highlight of the Mayan world.
The history of Tikal reveals that at its height, the city was a dominating economic and political Mesoamerican power. The city was reclaimed by the jungle after the Maya abandoned Tikal by the end of 900 AD. Since rediscovering Tikal in the late 1800s, archaeologists from all over the world have marveled by this sprawling archaeological complex consisting of more than 3,000 structures.
On a regular day walking inside Tikal park you can come across Spider Monkeys, Howler Monkey, Agouti, Coatimundi, Parrots, Toucans and Ocellated Turkey. Also Tapirs, peccaries and jaguars still roam the emerald forests making themselves seen to the eye of the avid observer.

5:00 a.m. Arrival at La Aurora International airport
6:30 a.m. Departure from airport Guatemala City to Flores
8:00 a.m. Arrival Flores Intel, meet and greet, transfer to Tikal National Park with driver and guide. Trip should take approximately 1.5 hours
9:00 a.m. Upon arrival at The Tikal National Park you will initiate the tour of the site which should take approximately 3 -4 hours exploring the different acropolises, temples, pyramids and a delightful combination of flora and fauna.
